Drum gear coupling is a high-performance flexible coupling

Drum gear coupling is a high-performance flexible coupling widely used in heavy-duty mechanical transmission systems, characterized by strong load-bearing capacity, good deviation compensation ability, and stable operation under harsh working conditions. It is mainly composed of two gear sleeves with internal teeth, two half-couplings with external teeth, and auxiliary components such as seals and lubricants. The external teeth of the half-couplings are processed into a drum shape, which is the core structural feature that distinguishes it from ordinary gear couplings.

The drum-shaped external teeth of the drum gear coupling allow a certain degree of angular, radial, and axial deviation between the two connected shafts. When the shaft system has deviations during operation, the drum-shaped teeth can slide smoothly along the tooth surface of the internal gear sleeve, effectively compensating for alignment errors, reducing the additional stress generated by the shaft system, and protecting the shaft and bearings from damage. Compared with ordinary straight-tooth gear couplings, drum gear couplings have better flexibility and impact resistance, and can adapt to more complex working conditions.

This type of coupling has excellent torque transmission capacity, and can transmit large torques even in high-speed operation, making it suitable for heavy-duty equipment such as metallurgical machinery, mining machinery, rolling mills, and marine diesel engines. In addition, the drum gear coupling adopts a sealed structure, which can prevent the entry of dust, moisture, and other impurities, and the lubricating oil filled inside can reduce tooth surface wear, extend the service life of the coupling, and ensure long-term stable operation.

The maintenance of drum gear couplings mainly focuses on regular inspection of the seal integrity, lubricating oil level, and tooth surface wear. If oil leakage is found, the seal should be replaced in time; if the lubricating oil deteriorates, it should be replaced regularly to ensure good lubrication effect. For the tooth surface, if there is excessive wear, pitting, or other damage, it should be repaired or replaced in time to avoid affecting the transmission performance and causing equipment failure.
